All apprenticeships contain practical and knowledge based units which are delivered within the school’s training and commercial kitchens.

Professional Cookery

Level 5

Aimed at new entrants and existing employees wanting to develop a career as a chef.

Learning on the job: gaining practical experience and the opportunity to develop cookery skills working in a kitchen. Appointed an assessor who will visit workplace every 2/3 weeks, delivering theory, practical assessments in workplace kitchen.

Professional Cookery

Level 6

Aimed at chefs within the industry wanting to develop and enhance kitchen and larder skills.

Learning on the job: developing and enhancing food preparation and cookery skills. Appointed an assessor who will visit workplace every 2/3 weeks, delivering theory, practical assessments in workplace kitchen.

Food and Beverage Service

Level 5

Aimed at new entrants and existing employees within the hospitality industry.

Learning on the job: covering all aspects of working in a restaurant, gaining knowledge and the opportunity to gain and develop practical skills. Appointed an assessor who will visit workplace every 2/3 weeks, delivering theory, practical assessment in restaurant workplace.

Hospitality Services

Level 5

Aimed at new entrants and existing employees who have a varied role within the workplace carrying out tasks in one or more areas within the kitchen, restaurant, housekeeping, reception environments.

Learning on the job gaining knowledge and practical work experience in a general hospitality role. Appointed an assessor who will visit the candidate every 2/3 weeks, delivering theory, practical assessments in the workplace.

Hospitality Supervision and Leadership Skills

Level 7

Aimed at employees looking to progress into supervisory, team leader roles within the hospitality industry.

Learning takes place on the job, gaining supervisory and leadership skills. Appointed an assessor who will visit the workplace every 2/3 weeks, delivering theory, practical assessment in the workplace.

Hospitality Management

Level 8

This qualification is aimed at employees currently in a supervisory role or above looking to develop and enhance managerial skills.

Learning on the job, gaining and developing management skills. Appointed an assessor who will visit the workplace every 2/3 weeks, delivering theory, practical assessments in the workplace.

What are Vocational Qualifications (VQs)?

VQs are nationally recognised qualifications designed by industry for industry. The main purpose of the qualification is to prove the competence necessary to carry out the job.

What is an Apprenticeship?

Employment plus training offering approved industry qualifications with financial Support for businesses (businesses pay the employee’s salary).

Apprenticeships are available to new start employees and existing employees who require training to upgrade their skills (subject to eligibility).

How the Training is Delivered?

Vocational qualifications where designed to be delivered within the workplace. Each candidate will be issued with their own personal folder, enabling them to build up a range of evidence including practical evidence, witness testimony, diaries and questions.

Our fully qualified assessors normally visit candidates once every 2 Weeks. Employers will be kept informed of candidate progress with feedback given at the end of every visit.
